SUMMARY:Arlington Genealogical Society (Virtual Meeting)
DESCRIPTION:6:30 – Meet & Greet \n7:00 – Program: Birds of a Feather – Y-DNA Research and Group Projects by Janine Cloud \nY chromosomal DNA passes only from father to son\, but while the path of inheritance is simple\, choosing which Y test to take can be con-fusing\, and using the results once you have them can be even more confusing. Group projects can help alleviate some of that confusion as well as help focus research through comparison with oth-er testers beyond simple one-to-one matching. \nJanine Cloud started on the phones at FamilyTreeDNA in 2011 and created the Group Projects team\, which she now man-ages\, in 2014. She is also the event coordi-nator for FTDNA and has given DNA talks at the local\, regional\, and national level since 2015. A fifth-generation Texan\, Janine is a registered member of the Cher-okee Nation. \nThis meeting will be conducted using Zoom. Please send email to contactus@arlingtongenealogytx.org to register.

SUMMARY:DPL at Home: Mysterious Relatives (Virtual Event)
DESCRIPTION:Every genealogist has that mysterious relative – the ubiquitous ‘cousin’ who was always around with no obvious family connection. As genealogy researchers\, we cannot figure out who this person is and how they are related to our family. Finding mysterious relatives on a census record; an entry in a family bible; or old letters can yield invaluable insight into a family’s genealogy. Learn how to analyze and connect these mysterious relatives to your family history using census and vital records\, newspapers\, maps\, etc.; contextual clues; “FAN club” methodology; and more. \nRegistration: https://bit.ly/DPLMystRel

SUMMARY:DPL at Home: Locating Ancestors on the Dawes Rolls (Virtual Event)
DESCRIPTION:Do you have Native American ancestors in your family and want to trace their history? The Dawes Rolls is where you should start. Enrollment of the Dawes Roll for the Five Civilized Tribes was conducted between 1898-1906 for individuals who were living in Indian Territory and could prove that they were enrolled on earlier tribal rolls. Kathy Huber\, genealogy librarian at the Tulsa City-County Library\, will give a step-by-step explanation of the Dawes Rolls. Discover the real reason the roll was created\, how the enrollment was conducted\, and how to determine if your ancestor was enrolled. \nKathy Huber has been the genealogy librarian for the Tulsa City-County Library for over 20 years. She manages the Genealogy Center and is responsible for collection development\, programming\, and community outreach.  Kathy is a native Texan and holds a B.A. in Piano Pedagogy and a Master’s of Library Science\, both from the University of North Texas\, Denton\, Texas. She has taught genealogy classes for the Oklahoma Library Association\, the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and has presented programs to local societies and organizations.  Kathy is the author of the NGS Research in the States Oklahoma and Research in the States American Indians of Oklahoma. \nRegistration: https://bit.ly/DPLDawes
