In 2006\, he was introduced to Gina Paige and Dr. Rick Kittles\, PH.D founders of African Ancestry\, Inc.. Through this connection\, Mr. Beaty was able to re-connect his personal tribal African Ancestry to his American Ancestry. \nOther companies Mr. Beaty has and continue to work with are: Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation\, 23 & Me\, Ancestry DNA\, GEDmatch\, and others. Paul Beaty is currently employed at JP Morgan Chase as a Business Development Account Executive in Middle Market Sales and strives to reconnect all families who have been disconnected through slavery. \nPaul Beaty received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 1997 from Paul Quinn College. He holds an undergraduate degree from Austin College\, graduate degrees in philosophy\, theology\, and history from Harvard\, Columbia\, and Fordham Universities\, and is retired from thirty-five years in college teaching.  He also holds a graduate degree and graduate certificates in library science and archival management.  Richard is a two-time Past Master and current Secretary of Dallas Masonic Lodge No. 760 and has served as a presiding officer or grand officer in most Masonic appendant bodies.  He currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Grand Lodge Masonic Education and Service Committee and as Librarian\, Archivist\, and Historian of the Dallas Scottish Rite Library & Museum.

Alonso De Leon\, the Younger\, named “La Santisima Trinidad“ (our present day Trinity River) in 1690 during these expeditions. \nGus is the President of Hogar de Dallas.  He is directly descended from the author\, the de Leons\, as well as several other members of the expedition party discussed in the book.

This lecture will demonstrate ways to build a map in Google Maps\, using Sanborn Fire insurance maps\, census records\, and city directories. \nAri\, a graduate of Louisiana State University\, has been actively researching family history since 1998. Ms. Wilkins has presented at the National Genealogical Society\, Federation of Genealogical Societies\, Texas State Genealogical Society\, Ohio Genealogical Society\, Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research\, Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy\, American Library Association\, RootsTech\, and a multitude of local societies. \nAri has been a Library Associate at Dallas Public Library since 2007\, teaching a series of basic research classes using popular genealogical websites. She is an author\, researcher\, and instructor whose focus is genealogy\, social and women’s history. She holds a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology and Women’s Studies) and a Master’s degree in Religion. \nHer presentation will be Celebrating the Vote: 100 Years of Women’s Suffrage: The 19th amendment was passed in 1919 and ratified in 1920\, ending a long struggle for women’s voting rights\, but some women were already voting and leaving a record trail. When did your female ancestor first vote? What records survive? And what can we learn about her based on extant records? \nGena’s  published works include three books\, numerous articles published in magazines and online\, two volumes of Tracing Female Ancestors (Moorshead Publishing)\, Tracing Your Ancestors: Hispanic Research (Moorshead Publishing) and a QuickGuide from Legacy Family Tree. \nShe is the editor of the Utah Genealogical Association’s magazine\, Crossroads. Her writings can be found on her blogs\, Gena’s Genealogy and Food.Family.Ephemera as well as the GenealogyBank and Legacy Family Tree blogs. \nShe is a course instructor for The National Institute for Genealogical Studies and has written courses on topics involving websites\, social media\, and ethics. \nShe has presented to diverse groups worldwide including the National Genealogical Society Conference\, the Alberta Genealogical Society Conference\, the Geo-Literary Society\, Daughters of the American Revolution\, and the Legacy Family Tree Webinar series. \nHer research projects include Sowerby’s British Mineralogy: Its Influence on Martha Proby and Others in the Scientific Community during the 19th Century for the Gemological Institute of America\, as well as genealogical research for the first season of PBS’s Genealogy Roadshow and the Travel Channel’s Follow Your Past. \nHer current research includes women’s repatriation and citizenship in the 20th century\, foodways and community in fundraising cookbooks\, and women’s material culture.
