2023 Writing Contest: Families on the Move – how they got from here to there (or there to here)
For the DGS 2023 Writing Contest, we’d like to hear how your family got from here to there, or there to here.
No matter the origins of your family, your ancestors and relations took a journey. Some of them were intentional immigrants. Some were brought here against their will. Some were pioneers. Some were just tourists. They may have moved from another country, or across town. All of them had experiences worth recounting.
Worthy articles will be selected for publishing in the DGS eNews during 2023. At the end of the year, we will pick a winner. The prize is a free 1-year membership to DGS for 2024!
Contest rules:
- Articles should be between 300–2000 words, not including source notes.
- Articles must be in Word or other text format.
- Please use Word’s endnotes function instead of the footnotes function.
- Subjects can be anyone in your research.
- Submissions must be received between 15 Nov 2022–15 Nov 2023. The winner will be announced in the January 2024 DGS eNews.
- By entering the contest, you agree that DGS has your permission to publish and archive your article. You agree that you have the rights to publish any image provided to us with your article. VERY IMPORTANT: You must provide source information for all images. The images must be in the public domain, or you must have permission to use them.
- There will be no compensation for the publication of your work; you retain the copyright. Previously published articles may not be eligible, due to copyright restrictions.
- Please send submissions to newsletter@dallasgenealogy.org.
