Meet our newest officer: Sue Gover-Lee

Sue’s volunteer experiences include Friends of Dallas Public Libraries (Renner Frankford), World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (Friends of Nuestra Cabana) and Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas, and her local church.
Her passion for family history was sparked by Sue’s maternal and paternal grandmothers along with her parents. In addition, she enjoyed learning about her hometown (founded in 1789 as part of the Phelps & Gorham Purchase) in Upstate New York. As a middle and high school student, she talked with adults in the community and was fascinated by the rich history and stories.
Locally, Sue’s genealogy affiliations include Collin County Genealogical Society, Dallas Genealogical Society, Genealogy Friends of Plano Libraries, and Mary Shirley McGuire NSDAR Chapter. Across the country, memberships include New York Genealogical & Biographical Society (where her family story was among the highlighted short videos during the 2024 Family History Conference), National Genealogical Society, and Welles Family Association. Family history research interests span geographies (USA-NY and CT, Canada, UK, South Korea), technology (DNA data and AI utilization), and family records preservation and storytelling.
She also enjoys being outdoors, traveling, history/geography, dogs, crocheting, and reading. She is from the Finger Lakes area of Upstate New York.
