Dallas Public Library Receives Dallas Genealogical Society’s Fall 2022 Book Donations
by Stephanie Bennett
The Genealogy & History Division of the Dallas Public Library was pleased to receive over $1,600 worth of new books from DGS for our genealogy collection. These materials are items that we were unable to purchase during the year that customers have requested or that we found to be essential items to add for research purposes.
We ask DGS to buy check out copies for items that we think will be popular, like Diana Elder’s Research Like a Pro with DNA and the new edition of the Genealogist’s Handbook for New England Research so that you can read and research with these books at home. Other books of interest include:
- San Antonio de Valero series by Jorge Luis Garza Ruiz
- Legacy of African Americans in Western Nebraska: Pioneers, Entrepreneurs and Buffalo Soldiers by Ruby Coleman
- Avoyelles Parish Marriage Records series by Ellen Dauzat
- Inside Camp Logan: The Daily Life of Soldiers at Houston’s World War I Training Camp by Louis F. Aulbach
- Researching Farming Ancestors in Ireland by William Roulston
And many more!
All these materials are currently with our hard-working catalog team, being recorded in the library’s online catalog. We update our new arrivals list every time we receive a new book or item for our collection! We also regularly add new genealogy titles to check out to our genealogy circulating collection. We encourage you to check back to these lists as there is always something new!
The Genealogy & History Division is grateful for the support of the Dallas Genealogical Society. Without this support, the Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruck Genealogy Collection would not be as diverse and relevant to our library patrons.
