Season’s greetings to our fellow genealogy enthusiasts! The Dallas Public Library Genealogy & History Division got an early holiday surprise from our Dallas Genealogical Society supporters. Fifty-nine new books from Iberian Publishing Company were donated to the Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruck Genealogy Collection. Iberian Publishing specializes in record transcription and research material for Virginia counties. The much-appreciated donation helped fill gaps in our Virginia collection – one of our most heavily researched areas.

Here are some examples of the titles that DGS donated:

  • Caroline County, Virginia ‘Lost’ Wills, 1676-1855 series
  • Henrico County, Virginia Court Order Book series
  • Scott County, Virginia Overseers of the Poor, 1815-1850
  • Free Blacks on the Warren County, Virginia Personal Property Tax Lists, 1836-1862
  • Washington Co. Virginia Circuit Court Will Book series

The library catalogers are hard at work already getting these materials ready to go out on the shelves. Remember you can always check out what new material has been added to the genealogy collection in the new arrivals list.

Happy holidays from all your Dallas Public Library Genealogy & History staff. We are so appreciative of your support!
