Volunteers who do not live in the city of Dallas can earn a Dallas Public Library card (with genealogical database access) after 20 hours of DPL Volunteer Service.
You can do this by volunteering in-person on the 8th floor.
- Scanning special collections materials.
- Helping with DPL genealogy programs.
- Shelving Etc. (more opportunities are forthcoming)
You can also accumulate hours by volunteering at Dallas Genealogical Society/DPL co-sponsored event that are free and open to the public.
- Running (technology, hospitality, etc.) hybrid meetings that meet at the library.
- SIG Leaders who facilitate hybrid meetings from the library.
- Does NOT apply to Seminars.
To become a DPL volunteer and earn hours:
