This months presentation will be a  discussion of Juan Bautista Chapa’s book “The First Official History of Texas (1630-1690)”  by Gus Hinojosa

The author of this book chronicles the mid-17th century expeditions by Alonso de Leon, the Elder, as well as the late 17th century expeditions by Alonso de Leon, the Younger, his son, into what is now northern Texas. Alonso De Leon, the Younger, named “La Santisima Trinidad“ (our present day Trinity River) in 1690 during these expeditions.

Gus is the President of Hogar de Dallas.  He is directly descended from the author, the de Leons, as well as several other members of the expedition party discussed in the book.
