In-person Event
Speaker: Bernard Meisner
Program: State and Territorial Censuses – Underused Genealogical Tools
Bernard has spoken to our group in the past. He will be speaking on State and Territorial Censuses and their value. Genealogists researching American families are familiar with the decennial federal census records. In this presentation, learn about the state and territorial censuses and their value in filling in the gaps between the federal census years, and providing additional information concerning the families, their occupations, and the places they lived.
More records have become available online even since William Dollarhide’s updated five volume set, Census Substitutes & State Census Records, 3rd Edition, was published in 2020! In particular, this presentation will provide specific information concerning Texas and the surrounding states.
Location: Inspire Room at the Grand Prairie Memorial Library
