From the President: Time to select next year’s officers

by Tony Hanson
I’m in a pretty good mood as I write these words: Let me tell you why.
A Great Spring Seminar
We just pulled off another amazing seminar. We’ve held events with more attendees, but I cannot remember being associated with one that has been so well received. As usual, our volunteers did an amazing job of arranging and organizing things for the Seminar on Saturday. Everyone who signed up for the one-on-one consultations with Finton and Gillian on Sunday walked out of their session with new information and ideas about how to advance their research. Comments from every participant I have encountered so far have been extremely positive (“one of the top three seminar I have ever attended” was one of my favorites).
Officer Nominations
We will be announcing the slate of officers for our core board positions (President, Vice President and Treasurer) at the April 5 meeting. I think that you will be as impressed and excited as I am when you hear about the next group of leaders of our society.
Our May 3rd meeting is going to be kind of special. We will be voting on the slate of officers, hearing from Thomas MacEntee about the expanding use of Artificial Intelligence in Genealogical Research and announcing the recipients of our annual awards. Mark your calendars now and plan to join us at the library (or on Zoom).
Annual Awards Nomination
If you have someone in mind that is deserving of our, awards please nominate them now at dallasgenealogy.org/annual-awards-nominations/.
