Bennett Family Cemetery

Bennett Family Cemetery
aka Old Bennett Cemetery and Bennet Memorial Gardens

LOCATION: The cemetery is located on the north side of Lake June Road just east of IH 635 in Mesquite, Texas. Bennett Cemetery was originally created as a family burying ground on the farm of William Hardy Bennett with the first burial in 1845. After the farm was sold the Bennett Cemetery remained active.

In the early 1950’s Laurel Land Corporation purchased the area surrounding the Bennett Family Cemetery. It was to be named Bennett Memorial Park; and so it was for about two years. The name was then changed to Laurel Oaks Cemetery with the original Bennett section named Bennett Memorial Gardens.

This database includes those burial currently in Bennett Memorial Gardens. The database was made on July 17, 2000 by Lynell Bennett Moss, Frederick E. Moss, Maxine M. Bennett and Matthew A. Moss. Additional information was added and updated in 2019 using information from Texas death certificates, newspaper obituaries, and social security death index.
