Some older death certificates call this cemetery Union Bower.
Directions: This small cemetery is located in a mostly industrial section of south Irving.
From Grauwyler Road:
- East of Loop 12, turn south onto Maryland Drive.
- Turn west at Penn Street. The cemetery is at the dead end of Penn.
The cemetery appears to be well cared for and still in use, but many of the graves are not marked or marked only with a concrete slab bearing the inscription “unknown.” Smith Cemetery is named after the individual who donated the land, but has no sign and is not marked in the Dallas Mapsco book.
