Happi Mikki McQuirk, (1946 – 2024)
Happi Mikki McQuirk (1946 – 2024) was the DGS Special Interest Group Leader for MacGen Reunion. She organized and operated the group from 2006 until her death this year, moving it from onsite to virtual programming. Reaching out to Macintosh owners, she invited them to “Come join us and bring your questions, dilemmas, and suggestions to our gatherings as we discuss all things Mac, getting the most out of your genealogical research!”
Happi Mikki McQuirk was the oldest of five children born to Bernard Clair McQuirk and Florence Mooring in Wichita County, Texas. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson (TJ) High School in Dallas in 1964, where she was known as Mikki. After high school she lived in Colorado, Hawaii, Washington, and Ireland. She attended University of Dallas (1964-65, 1974), Kauai Community College (1991-92), and University of Hawaii-West Oahu (1993-1996). She served on the 40th and 50th 1964 class reunion committees for TJ.
She was a founding & charter member of the Guild of Hawaii Computer Professionals plus two other Hawaiian computer groups (1992-1996) and president/owner of McQuirk Consulting Company, which provided Apple Macintosh related services and training in Ireland and the United States.
She was predeceased by her parents, two siblings and Brent Bersbach, her partner of twenty years. She is survived by a brother and sister.
She joined DGS in 2004; wrote an article for the newsletter that year and became Newsletter Editor 2005-2006.
