Out of the Attic and into the eNews
Veteran members of the Society will remember a time when transcriptions of family records – bible pages, newspaper articles, obituaries, funeral programs, commencement programs, and so on – were regularly found in the pages of our publications. We’d like to revive this practice and start featuring family records in our monthly eNews. We need your help to accomplish this.
Rummage around in your genealogical “attic” for unique family records. Then email us a transcription. Include an introductory paragraph to explain what the record is and where you found it. We’ll do the rest.

A transcription of the family Bible of Lucy Isadore Rainwater & John Pinkney Aderholt
This family record was saved from destruction when it was purchased at an estate sale by Polly Thorne Flory (who is not a Rainwater descendant) and sent to Susan Chance-Rainwater. The Rainwater family came from Kentucky to Texas in 1889, and the Aderholt family came from Alabama to Texas in 1891. Both families settled in Waterloo, Williamson County. The fathers, who had served on opposite sides of the Civil War, never spoke to each other, but two Rainwater daughters married two Aderholt sons. Lucy Rainwater and John P. Rainwater were one of those couples.
