Ulster Historical Foundation to stop in Dallas on March 15 and 16
DGS has scored a genealogical home run by being one of the few visits of the Ulster Historical Foundation on their 2025 North American tour! We began our negotiations to earn a tour spot for this year’s Spring Seminar back in 2021. This prestigious, Belfast-based non-profit educational agency provides deep expertise in researching Irish family history. While they have a special interest in those ancestors who came to Northern Ireland from Scotland in the earlier centuries (the “Scots-Irish), their team is extremely competent in dealing with genealogical research for all of Ireland.
Executive Director Fintan Mullan and Research Officer Gillian Hunt will be joining us on Sat. March 15 for a full day seminar designed to help us enrich our search for our personal “shamrocks”. Registration is open by our usual methods for our seminars. Reserve your ticket at dallasgenealogy.org/meetings-events/2025-spring-seminar/.
We were lucky enough to get that crack team to stay for half a day on Sun. March 16, to do brief, one-on-one consultations, also at the Dallas Public Library, in the McDermott Room. This is your rare chance to ask the experts your Irish genealogy question, without having to travel across the pond! Those consultations will be booked and paid for separately through the UHF site. The consultation cost is listed in pounds sterling but is approximately $50 US. (For those concerned about making an overseas purchase, I had no problems registering on their tour consultation website and paying with my major credit card.) To register for a personal consultation, go to https://ulsterhistoricalfoundation.com/events-courses/dallas.
After so many months of corresponding with Fintan, I am excited to finally meet him in person. We hope you will help us give him and Gillian a big, Texas welcome for their first visit in our state, and enhance your Irish family research! (For those who volunteer to work the Saturday event, you will have the opportunity to go to dinner Saturday night with the DGS team and our visitors! You can sign up at our Get Involved tab-hint, hint!)
