You Did It! $12,645 Raised for Our New Scanner

The results are in, and thanks to the extraordinary generosity of DGS members, friends, and supporters, our 2026 North Texas Giving Day campaign exceeded our fundraising goal and raised $12,645 toward the purchase of a new scanner for the Genealogy & History Division of the Dallas Public Library.
The campaign began with an appeal to create a pool of matching funds. You responded enthusiastically, contributing the full $5,000 we hoped to raise. Those funds then provided an incentive for additional donors to support the project during Early Giving and North Texas Giving Day.
On September 5, we reached another important milestone when DGS formally signed the $33,954 purchase order for the new scanner at our General Meeting.
The scanner is now on order!
The $12,645 raised through the campaign will cover a significant portion of its cost. DGS will provide the remaining $21,340 from operating funds accumulated through the continuing support of our members, donors, and seminar participants.
This is truly a community effort.
The new scanner will replace the i2S CopiBook scanner DGS helped provide in 2018. Located in the Dallas Public Library’s Genealogy & History Division, this specialized equipment helps genealogists, historians, students, researchers, and other library patrons digitize books, documents, photographs, and other historical materials.
