And the survey said…
By Jim Thornhill
No, it’s not time to play Family Feud! But the survey results from our Fall Seminar are just as exciting. As usual, you provided us with some valuable information.
One encouraging message is that we are continuing to provide you the content that enables you to learn from and enjoy our seminars. While there is always room for improvement, like improving the lighting and trying to get the heat turned on, you have told us we are basically on the right track.
Another thing you told us is that our former VP, Kristin, did a good job in selecting Jen Baldwin as a speaker. Jen was not quite as well known in our area, but after hearing her, many of you were impressed with her knowledge of and passion for genealogy and asked to have her back. Comments such as “she is an excellent presenter and knows her material well” were common.
I also would like to thank you for your suggestions on future speakers and topics. We use those suggestions when planning our future programming. Three of you suggested topics on African American research, DNA, and The Great Migration and New England research. That is precisely what we have in store for next year. Famed speaker Tony Burroughs will be here in the spring, we will have a DNA multi-track seminar in the summer, covering everything from which testing company should I use to Genetic Networks, and in the fall, just in time for the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower’s landing, will be David Lambert, chief genealogist for the New England Historical and Genealogical Society.
I cannot close without thanking our volunteers. We could not put on one of these seminars without you. From the board members who put in many hours helping to plan to the members who come and work during the seminar, you all have my sincere appreciation. And congratulations to the winner of our volunteer drawing, who will be able to attend a free seminar next year, Barbara Ware!
