Join Preservation Dallas on their Fall Tour and safely explore at Dallas’ most notable cemeteries. With tour stops around the city, you will be able to see a vast array of timeless landscapes abundant with historic grave markers, mausoleums and statuary. You do not want to miss this on Halloween weekend! The tour will be a one day showcase of some of the most famous burial sites in Dallas including multitudes of local architects, business leaders, baseball players, some good guy and some bad guys.
The day will begin at the Hillcrest Mausoleum (1937, Anton Korn) with check in and a discussion highlighting cemetery history, evolution and the built environment. Moderated by Dallas Municipal Archivist John Slate, the symposium panel includes Sparkman/Hillcrest Vice President Teresa Schnur, Dallas Genealogical Society Past President Tony Hanson as well as Versar Cultural Resources Lead Michelle Wurtz. This entire day will be filled with beautiful structures and stories, and the great outdoors, and you do not want to miss it! Check in for the tour begins at 8:30 a.m. The symposium begins at 9 a.m., and cemeteries are open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees are REQUIRED to check in at Hillcrest Mausoleum. Face masks are required for the symposium at Hillcrest Mausoleum.
The tour includes the symposium and tour at Hillcrest Mausoleum as well as the seven cemetery stops below. Tickets are $30 for Preservation Dallas members and $40 for the public. Reservations are required and non refundable.
