Purpose
The purpose of the DNA Special Interest Group is to explore the use of DNA as a genealogical tool. The goal will be to help individuals understand and incorporate current DNA testing strategies and standards into their personal genealogy. Meeting are open to all.

When: 3rd Thursday of odd month (September to May) from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
Where: DNA SIG will meet virtually via Zoom until further notice. Check the DGS calendar for the link.

| April 21, 2022 | DNA News – National DNA Day – April 25, 2022 Laura Larsdatter (Tony Hanson’s great grandmother) was born in Eidsvoll, Akershus, Norway in 1844. A fire in the Eidsvoll church destroyed the vast majority of the Birth, Marriage and Death records created before 1877, creating a significant genealogical brick wall. In this presentation Tony will reveal how DNA matches and other resources were used to reveal the identity of her birth family and several preceding generations.
